Through the eyes of a child...

During the time when Ryan's oldest daughter's grief was still very raw, we encouraged her to write. Although the following poem was actually a school assignment, it's emotion and insight is profound - especially for a 13 year old.

Later that year Taylor went on to represent her school as a "Young Author" in a local program. The program hand selects students who have written a piece that is worthy of publication. Taylor... we are all so proud of you!!!

The Crisp Red Rose

I sit with the wind blowing through my hair,

Watching the stone with a solitude stare.

 The words on the stone absorb on my mind

As leaves swirl and twirl on the ground behind.

 A raindrop hits the top of the stone,

Then was when I realized I was truly alone.

 It's been 3 years since you have been gone.

Now you are up in the heavens beyond.

 The warm glimmer of the sun hits my face

As I set the crisp red rose the stone's base.

 Now I know, even though you are gone,

That you've been with me all along.
